Why I am Rebranding (And You Should Too)
READ TIME: 3 MINUTES
ISSUE: #002
Have you ever paused to ask yourself: Am I the same person I was a year ago?
For me, the answer was a resounding no.
This realization sparked a journey of deep self-reflection—one that led to the reimagining of my personal brand. Guided by principles of neuroscience and psychology, I uncovered the power of aligning my evolving identity with my brand.
Today, I’ll walk you through the exact steps I took to redefine myself and help you determine if it’s time for your rebrand too.
🧠Self-Assessment and Market Research
Before you can change direction, you need to understand where you stand. Here's how I approached it:
1. Listen to Your Emotions
Psychology teaches us about cognitive dissonance—the discomfort when your actions don’t align with your beliefs. This inner tension is your mind's way of telling you something’s off.
For me, the pandemic acted as a pause button, offering time to reflect on what no longer felt right.
2. Audit Your Skills, Experiences, and Passions
Ask yourself:
- What skills or experiences have I gained in the last two years?
- What do others frequently seek my advice on?
- What activities feel effortless and energizing?
- What tasks drain me or fill me with dread?
3. Research Your Industry
Find your place by analyzing trends, gaps, and opportunities:
- What are the biggest challenges people face?
- Where are the inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or unmet needs?
- How can your unique skills solve these problems?
4. Study the Leaders
Success leaves clues. Observe those you admire and analyze their strategies. Take inspiration, but always add your unique perspective to stand out.
🌟 Why I Rebranded
Nothing alive stays the same—unless it’s dead. (And even then, it decays!) Growth is a choice, and I choose to evolve, not stagnate.
The pandemic became a pivotal moment for me—a pause button in a fast-paced world. It gave me space to reflect, revealing that my personal brand no longer aligned with who I had become.
Life Changes
- I ended a draining 29-year relationship.
- I stopped hustling for others’ ambitions and began prioritizing my own goals and well-being.
Energy Shift
I moved away from the stress and rigidity of hustle culture, embracing feminine energy: calm, compassionate, and nurturing.
This journey inward transformed my view of personal branding. I now see it as a dynamic process of self-actualization—harnessing your strengths to make a meaningful impact while shaping perceptions authentically.
My curiosity about the science behind personal branding became the fuel for my transition, turning change into empowerment.
🔎 The Neuroscience Behind It
Our brains are hardwired to alert us when we’re out of alignment—a phenomenon known as cognitive dissonance. Living authentically isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s essential for mental well-being.
Similarly, our brains are wired for curiosity. Pursuing what captivates us activates neural pathways, releasing dopamine, and sparking creativity and joy.
These principles shaped my rebrand:
- Authenticity: A personal brand must grow with you—people connect with what’s real.
- Curiosity: My fascination with personal branding inspired countless hours of research and deep personal fulfillment.
đź’ˇ Is It Time for Your Rebrand?
Ask yourself:
- Are you still aligned with the person you were before COVID?
- Which areas of your life or work feel out of sync?
- What topics or fields have recently sparked your curiosity?
Rebranding isn’t about discarding your past; it’s about evolving into your best self. For me, this meant leveraging my neuroscience background to build a more authentic and aligned personal brand.
